Incremental steps rarely result in exponential progress. If you need to win big, you need to act in big ways. If you are worried about rocking the boat, you aren't really leading.

No matter how high performing you are, there is always room for learning and growth. You can check all the boxes and still have so much to learn! That growth often includes developing others, sharing your experiences and ideas, and seeking new and innovative ideas. #Growth

I just heard this great quote in a Christmas movie...We belong where we believe we belong. #BelieveBelongBecome

Accountability done well is holding people to the standard not because you are against them, but because you are for them. It's reminding them of who they are meant to be, of the commitment they’ve made. Accountability is what you do for people, not to people.

Successful leaders listen, act on feedback, and empower others. Strong leaders don't back away from shared leadership. Strong leaders allow themselves to be a voice in the room but not the only voice in the room.

Gimmicks, pie in the face, woot woot carts, etc. will not create a positive school culture. Culture is built through respect, integrity, consistency, service, and genuine care. Do all of the fun things, woot woot away, but that isn't what really moves the dial towards excellence.

There are always problems to complain about, if you look for them. There are always things to be grateful for, if you look for them. You get what you look for. You choose what you look for.

When there is an opportunity to go above and beyond, choose that every time. Even if you are tired. Even if it is hard. At the end of the day, that is how we really make a difference. That is what separates the great from the average. Being excellent is choosing excellence!

If you can look back on your day and think of one person that you positively impacted, you can count it as a win! Stop focusing on the negative, and focus on the positive you are creating in the lives of those around you!

3 things your team needs from you when they are struggling and discouraged: Time with you (connect and care) Vision (remind them of the why) Encouragement (make it specific, stir up belief) Lead on purpose.

Accomplishments are the springboard to the achievement of your next goal. Winners never rest in the things they have accomplished. They work to continually improve. They multiply that effect by inviting others on their journeys!

A key component to success is celebration! Celebrate the things you want to replicate! I am so proud of our #OrrTeam for rising from a D to a B school letter grade! We enjoyed celebrating this evening! We have celebrated many times on the journey!

Embrace the present! It is a gift. You can't change the past, but what you do with the present will impact your future. Take intentional actions to secure a successful future! Have difficult conversations, address mediocrity, and celebrate what you want to see replicated!

School letter grades don't tell the whole story, but I am so thankful that all of our #OrrTeam's hard work paid off by raising two letter grades from a D to a B!

You can read all the leadership and culture building books in the world...without implementation or change of practice, they are a waste of time. What matters is doing the work, celebrating what you want to replicate, and loving your people enough to not let them fail.
