Depuis 1947, le Canada appuie une solution à deux États : la Palestine et Israël vivant côte à côte en paix et en sécurité. Aujourd’hui, le Canada reconnaît l’État de Palestine et offre son partenariat en vue d’une paix durable au Moyen-Orient.

To preserve the path to peace through a two-state solution, Canada intends to recognize the State of Palestine.

Afin de rester sur la voie de la paix qu’offre la solution à deux États, le Canada a l’intention de reconnaître l’État de Palestine.

Par conséquent, vous ne verrez plus bcp ici sur le Moyen-Orient. Je laisse cela à mes collègues qui dirigent actuellement ces dossiers. Mais, comme tous ceux qui ont vu et vécu ce conflit, je continuerai à observer de loin, emportant mon expérience avec moi partout où j’irai.

Avec le fin de mon mandat, je m’absente pour prendre congé. Je reviendrai travailler à Ottawa en 2025, sur de nouveaux dossiers. Je suis conscient que des millions de Palestiniens et d’autres habitants de la région n’ont pas ce luxe.

Ergo, going forward you will not see much posted here on the Middle East. I leave that to my colleagues now leading on these files. But, like everyone who has seen and lived this conflict, I will continue to watch from afar, carrying my experience with me wherever I go.

Friends, with the end of my term, I am stepping away to take time off. I will return to work in Ottawa in the new year, on new files. I am aware that millions of Palestinians, and others in the region, do not have this luxury.

سواء كان الأمر يتعلق بالصحفيين الشجعان في #غزة، أو العائلات التي ترفض الإخلاء من منازلها في #القدس الشرقية، أو المنظمات غير الحكومية التي تقودها النساء والتي تقدم الدعم في مخيمات #اللاجئين المكتظة في #الضفةالغربية، فقد شعرت بالتواضع أمام العزيمة الفلسطينية تحت النار. 3/5

في العامين اللذين قضيتهما في #القدسالشرقية، و #الضفةالغربية، و #غزة ، رأيت الفلسطينيين يظهرون فخرًا كبيرًا في ماضيهم، وصمودًا ثابتاً في حاضرهم، وإيماناً راسخاً في مستقبلهم، حتى في خضم أهوال الصراع الحالي. 2/5

إنتهت مهامي كممثل لكندا في . أغادر بقلب حزين ولكن أيضا بإيمان راسخ بأن مستقبل أكثر إشراقًا للفلسطينيين ليس ممكنًا فحسب بل حتمي. 1/5

I salute all those continuing to work for peace and justice in the region: Palestinians, Israelis, Canadians, and so many others. Your work is not hopeless; quite the opposite. It's the only path forward that can offer success. The antidote to hopelessness can only be hope. 5/5

Canada is firmly committed to a two-state solution. Both Palestinians and Israelis have the right to peace, security, prosperity, and human dignity. I pass the torch to @GrahamDattels who is now Canada's Rep in Ramallah, leading our strong team at @CanadaRepPA. 4/5

Whether it's courageous journalists covering stories in #Gaza, or families refusing to be driven from their homes in #EastJerusalem, or women-led NGOs providing support in #WestBank #refugee camps, I have been humbled by Palestinian determination. 3/5

In my two years in #EastJerusalem, the #WestBank, and #Gaza, I have seen Palestinians show fierce pride for their past, steadfast courage (as they would say: sumud) for their present, and a firm faith in their future, even amid the current conflict. 2/5
