Only 12 more days until the Thunderbirds are flying at Atlanta Air Show stop of the Air Dot Show Tour. Here are a few highlights from their appearance last year at the 2024 show. Videography is vastly different from photography, both in shooting and in processing. I’m trying

f you aren't printing your images, you are missing out. Don't just leave them on your phone or computer! Last year we decided this 5’x3’ canvas of my image from the Chattahoochee River in the North Georgia Mountains from October 2022 was just what was needed for this large wall

Fall colors are just around the corner. I can’t wait to get back out in the mountains and capture some great fall images. I would encourage everyone to print your images. This is the Chattahoochee River in the Georgia Mountains from October 2022.

Off we go into the wild blue yonder, Climbing high into the sun… I can’t wait to see the Thunderbirds again in a few weeks at the upcoming Atlanta Airshow. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them. This was from the 2024 Atlanta Airshow last fall.

It’s only one month until the Wings Over North Georgia airshow in Rome. I’m looking forward to being at the show in Rome again. It’s a great location with mountains and fall leaves in the background. Here’s an image from the 2021 show with the @BlueAngels executing the Burner 270

Fall is my favorite time of the year for landscape photography. There is nothing quite like seeing entire mountainsides full of fall color. If you have never seen aspen trees in the high elevations turning golden yellow, I highly recommend it. I was so excited two years ago when

Buffer size: My a6600 has a 39-frame buffer. Most of the time this is fine, but when I'm trying to get a pass and then some of the turn after the pass, I often run out of buffer. Additionally, the a6600 also only supports UHS-I, so it's very slow at processing and emptying the

Frames per second: My a6600 will shoot a maximum of 11 fps. Despite that being a decent frame rate, it is really luck of the draw based on the millisecond you press the shutter for captures opposing passes. Sometimes I get the cross at the center of the crossing moment and

Gear Advice Wanted! Let’s talk aviation shooting gear. This is something I rarely talk about, but I’m considering upgrading, so I’d love to get some input from my fellow aviation photographers out there in this great community. Currently my main aviation setup is a Sony a6600

It is only six more weeks until I get to see the Blues again in the closest airshow to me when they return to the Wings Over North Georgia Airshow! Here’s some Burner 270 action from the 2021 show in Rome, Georgia. If you haven't been to the Rome show, it's a great location and

My last couple of aerial images from my trip earlier this year across the country to San Jose have generated some interesting discussions. This is further west on the same trip. This is Otter Creek Reservoir in Utah. It will be interesting to see if any locals from this area end

Moose & Hogs: My aviation posts recently have been focusing on past images from the two upcoming local shows in October. Here’s an image from the 2018 Wings Over North Georgia Airshow. The C-17 did not do a demo but was just there for static. However, on Sunday after the show was

Sometimes images I don’t expect to get much interaction with completely surprise me. That was the case of the aerial image I shared a few days ago of the salt mine and Cimarron river near Freedom, Oklahoma. One of the groups I shared the image it had tons of interaction and all

The Blues will be back at the Wings Over North Georgia Airshow in Rome in October. This was LCDR Cary “Chewy” Rickoff during Friday’s practice session in 2021. This was the first season the Blues flew the Super Hornets. There was a lot of humidity that day which produced a great

Unfortunately, the schedules didn’t work out for me to see the @AFThunderbirds so far this year. I’m looking forward to seeing them again at the Atlanta Airshow in October. This will be my only time seeing them this year. Here’s a close-up view of last year’s Opposing Solo #6

I’ve flown back and forth between Atlanta and California enough times that I can typically get a fairly accurate sense of where I am just by looking out the window for a few minutes. Part of this is because I’m usually glued to the window most of the flight. The view from 35,000

I mentioned yesterday that I won’t be attending any more airshows until October, so I’m probably going to focus a lot the next few weeks on sharing images from past shows from Georgia in October. This image is from the 2021 Wings Over North Georgia Airshow in Rome with Baxter

I don’t have any airshows on my schedule until October, so I have a couple more months until I get to see some aviation action. It will be a busy month with great back-to-back airshows right in my area starting with the Atlanta Airshow in Peachtree City followed by the Wings Over
