In our view @X doesn’t comply with the DSA in key transparency areas. It misleads users, fails to provide adequate ad repository and blocks access to data for researchers. It’s the first time we issue preliminary findings under the Digital Services Act. 👇

Today we open a new case + we adopt preliminary findings against @Apple under the DMA. 👉We are concerned Apple's new business model makes it too hard for app developers to operate as alternative marketplaces & reach their end users on iOS. More🗞️:

"...[S]ome decisions will have to be made in the next parliament. It may be that universities are deemed too big to be allowed to fail, especially where they are a big part of their local economy." (via @branwenjeffreys, BBC News).

#Labour Manifesto places emphasis on attracting #FDI into the UK (not dissimilar to to "open for business" rhetoric of the Cameron-era governments). To that end, no mention of strengthening #merger or #takeover rules, in contrast to manifestos of Miliband and Corbyn (twice).

#LibDems Manifesto pledges to 'extend' the residual public interest regime for mergers, in an effort to protect UK firms from foreign takeover bids that encroach on the interests of the economy, workers, and consumers. Other parties may follow suit. #GeneralElection

No controversy in the EU "modernising" its competition laws "in view of global competitiveness". Much controversy in what this could entail, given previous sentiments expressed by Macron et al (incl. the pursuit of 'European champions' via bespoke merger control enforcement).
