I have just uploaded this film of a Red Fox Vulpes vulpes vixen feeding her cubs to YouTube, a personal landmark, as it is the 1,000th film that I have posted. Visitors are always welcome - the narrative of my films is provided by the subjects, not by me!

A nice surprise just now - a visit from the 2022C Red Fox Vulpes vulpes vixen. When I saw her in June (from afar) she appeared to have sarcoptic mange on her flank. No sign of it now. She is the only fox visiting from outside the family group. If seen, she will be chased away!

I had no idea that it was #WorldPhotographyDay, and neither did the 2025A juvenile Red Fox Vulpes vulpes vixen, 6 months old today, when I took this photograph of her this morning.

The 2025C juvenile Red Fox Vulpes vulpes dog fox hadn't visited for 10 days, probably because his dad, the territory-holding 2023F dog fox, has been seen regularly, and 2025C is prone to hiding in vegetation and whimpering whenever he sees him! This is the fur between his ears.

An illustration of the 2025C juvenile Red Fox Vulpes vulpes dog fox using his vomeronasal (Jacobson's) chemoreceptor organ to detect interesting scents being carried on the breeze this morning @WLOL_2003. Two of his sisters were also present. They will be 6 months old tomorrow.

Slow-motion film of female Banded Demoiselles Calopteryx splendens taking off and landing. Twice, the latter action took place in the one place that I couldn't film it - when they settled on my mobile!

Probably the most satisfying image that I have taken of a Dockbug Coreus marginatus to date. Photographed in a small London park on 13th August.

Portrait of the 2025A juvenile Red Fox Vulpes vulpes vixen from yesterday. She had just taken a very welcome drink. She and her three siblings from this year's litter will be six months old in four days' time.

A male Banded Demoiselle Calopteryx splendens, shot from a low angle in order to illustrate the insect against a bright blue sky. Taken in a small London park this morning. Many of these insects will end up missing one or more of their legs.

In addition to panting, the 2025A juvenile Red Fox Vulpes vulpes vixen was employing vasodilation of the blood vessels in her cheeks to cool down today, vibrating the skin in a manner akin to birds fluttering their gular pouches. Her tongue wasn't lolling though @WLOL_2003.

A second record of a female Wasp Spider Argiope bruennichi in a small London park this morning. An enwebbed greenbottle was on the menu today, but orthopteran prey is often favoured by this handsomely marked spider. Long-winged Coneheads Conocephalus fuscus may need to be wary!
