Thanks so much for your generous contributions to our fundraiser for T Berry. As of Friday, we've raised about $4,900 on GoFundMe toward our goal. I've posted an update here. He's truly thankful. Can you help? .

Friends: Our #DavidsonNC neighbor T Berry is in need. A tree recently fell on his house and he's also been ill. He's that guy you've seen around town selling walking sticks, to supplement his tiny income. Can you help?

A theme of my recent @whqr series on climate change and the NC coast was rising sea levels. Jennifer Allen of @Coastal_Review reports on a new analysis for the NC Coastal Resources Commission showing the Atlantic could rise 1-1.4 ft by 2050.

It's dark in downtown Davidson except for traffic, because of a power outage. More than 4,000 customers are without power in our area, from the Exit 30 area to downtown to east Davidson at NC 73. No cause given yet by Duke Energy. An alert says power could be back by 11:15pm.

Out today: My third story in @whqr's 3-part series "Rising Waters," examining the growing problem of high-tide flooding - sometimes called "sunny day flooding." It's worsening with sea level rise due to climate change.

What if the beach was gone and your house was surrounded by the ocean? An NC task force has been studying the problem for 2 years. A report is due soon with potential solutions. More in Part 1 of my series "Rising Waters" on @whqr #climatechange
