So messed up - consultancy firm, interim VC from the firm. And a great geography department, with fantastic academics, under threat. Awful for everyone affected. It’s a small thing, but write letters https://t.co/Rz24qEUvmc

It is unthinkable that this situation has arisen, and I sincerely hope that the UOW executive rethinks these proposals. You can sign the NTEU-led petition here to show your support: https://t.co/ZKMvuT3ZB8 5/5

But what also characterises geographers at UOW is their collegiality, generosity and care towards other scholars, both academics and students—and this ethos definitely has big ripple effects across the rest of the discipline in Australia and beyond 4/5

In terms of funded research success alone, geographers at UOW are one of the top performing programs in Australia—they currently hold 1 Laureate, 1 Future Fellowship, 2 DECRAs, 4 Discoveries, 2 Linkages, in addition to an enviable record of industry funding. 3/5

The very idea of so many incredible geography friends and colleagues at the University of Wollongong being in scope for possible redundancy next month is absolutely gut wrenching https://t.co/mSJXQeggk2 1/5
