This is, perhaps, the most important slide from Synopsys. This might not seem like a big deal to most people, but this is what makes or breaks your process - interface and IP support. Can't develop good xTors in a vacuum. #Intel18A

No idea why I like this so much; but he jokingly said he love the word Angstrom because...

Aart de Geus talks about Synopsys collab with Intel. Says their Intel 18A test chip is back and the results are "really good" (based on older 0.5PDK). Includong a high performers core. #Intel18A

Surprised to see a bunch of talks about hardware Zettascale design requirements at #IEDM2023 (Inc. by Intel&AMD). It seems they've all landed on a power envelope target of ~100-125 MW. Is that even realistic? That's 10EF/MW. Today we're hardly getting 150PF/MW #HPC

BTW, we are talking about 3-6 angstroms thick for those channels. This always comes up: yes carbon (1d/2d) is still well researched, still lots of stuff on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene but it's all a bit further out.

Over the years, there were lots of proposals for utilizing various novel 2d materials for constructing dense nanosheet channels with exceedingly good mobility. Practically all papers this year converged on Molybdenum disulfide for nMOS & Tungsten diselenide for pMOS #IEDM2023

Finally back in-person, this year #HotChips35 is at Dinkelspiel Auditorium and I was told it's 100% sold out. It's much smaller than the usual Memorial Auditorium where HC is usually held (due to construction).
