We’re a bunch of terrified, hairless apes who will all soon die and be forgotten. Perhaps the only meaning is presentism, found in small acts of kindness to one another, compassion for our fellow companions. Be kind to one another.

The Universe is a terrifyingly stark & cold place. As far as we can see, fast travel is prohibited, there’s no-one else out there & death is an inevitable end. Even legacy is one day forgotten. It’s as if the cosmos is telling us that what really matters is right here, right now.

Nationwide, the Teamsters represent more than 10,000 workers at Sysco, and that collective strength is delivering real results. Teamsters are winning amazing contracts — including the first-ever regional agreement negotiated by West Coast Teamsters in California and Nevada.

This isn’t accurate. The SETI paper says that it IS a natural object:

OK, yes, that was a joke. Cameras, like those used by TESS, have square pixels. For this camera, each pixel spans 21 arc seconds on the sky. So anything smaller than this (e.g. nearest stars are milli-arcseconds across) gets smudged out into blocks like this.

Holy shit guys... @NASA_TESS imaged TIC 261136679 and just look at what it saw - does that look like a "star" to you? And it gets even worse. It turns out all so-called stars imaged by TESS look like this! source: https://t.co/miQgMN4kNo

I wish folks would stop saying astronomers aren’t open-minded about the possibility of aliens visiting the Solar System. We’ve been talking this about since the 60’s! eg Bracewell argued aliens might leave monitoring stations on or near inhabited worlds https://t.co/d6CrFDnYyC

Simeon has confirmed what I suspected in this video, the Navcam image doing the rounds is NOT 3I/ATLAS, but is in fact Phobos. I had that in my original script as a strong hunch but scrubbed it last second, but great to see it confirmed here!

3I/ATLAS has become a magnet for pseudoscience like nothing I’ve ever seen before in my lifetime. There’s a vast audience out there who apparently don’t question the ludicrous claims floating around. Naivety and gullibility used to be ridiculed, but somehow it’s become the norm.
