Helping SaaS founders ship fast and stay secure | Co-founder @HeyKinde
Byron Bay, Australia
Joined September 2023
The last year has been wild. At @HeyKinde we've seen AI tools go from 0 → 100,000 users in weeks and some hit 1M+ just months later. Not with big teams or huge funding, they just made smart decisions early. Here’s what I’ve learned:

Daily standups are a waste of time.. Most people admit to zoning out and only focusing when it's their turn to speak.

I was helping a mate recruit for his startup, and recently interviewed a candidate for him who was still pretty fresh out of uni wanting a CTO role… at a 3-person company

Our only non-negotiable meeting is the founder Monday morning check-in. It makes sure we're all aligned. Team unity prevents issues from spiraling out of control, so we make it a priority.

I've been batching similar tasks on specific days and found it's really boosted my focus & productivity. Separating marketing from coding lets my brain prep for a "marathon," not a series of sprints.

My 9-year-old had her first school presentation and didn't know what to say. I've tried to teach her that the best stories aren't about the awesome final result, but all the hilarious mistakes along the way :)

I love the way the team has approached this, and so proud of how they've turned security into a shared practice with our customers and making the platform stronger for everyone. I feel like it's this sort of thinking that captures exactly what sets us apart.
Kinde’s security team are not just huge muscular folk in black t-shirts wearing sunglasses, they’re also random people behind desks using Kinde for auth and doing annual pen testing. Of course our own devs regularly test, maintain, and update Kinde systems to protect against

So this is me, stepping out from behind the product. I’ll post updates here, and I’ve also set up a rough-and-ready newsletter for people who want the full picture, templates, behind-the-scenes, and experiments that don’t make it to X. Newsletter:

I’ll share: * My content systems (and templates) for idea batching, editing, and scheduling * How I’m using AI (and when I refuse to - there is so much AI s**t out there already) * What works, what flops, and how to replicate the wins * Honest reflections from a technical founder

I truly believe this is a skill every founder needs, especially the technical ones like me who’ve stayed behind the scenes so I figured why not share what I'm learning along the way.

I’m not wired for this stuff, I’m an introverted extrovert who can fake it when I need to. But my happy place is honestly just smashing out code.
