If I employed 1 person on min wage 42.5 hours/week £26984/year, and they had tax free 12570. You would have to give them min 28 days paid holiday. They take home £22949 per year. The cost to you would be £30282 plus the government would earn £7333 without any of your admin costs

I know, let's increase the minimum wage so we can tax them more now they are well over the threshold also get more NI from both the employees and employers NI. The employers and employees won't realise till its too late and we've spent (wasted) it.

UK treasury is out of touch with people. I would owe the tax man over £600 at the end of the year if my only income was my state pension, and I would also have to do a tax return. How does that work?

Topic for discussion. Average uk salary is £26,000 per year, tax on this including allowances works out around 17%, and highly paid pay around 55% tax. Most people assume that everyone pays same tax.
