NOLOCK isn't unblockable! Your "dirty read" query still needs a Schema Stability Lock (Sch-S). If another process is running an ALTER TABLE or INDEX REBUILD, it takes an Sch-M lock and your query will hang. Respect the structural engineers! #SQLServer #DBA #PerformanceTuning

Stop Misusing XML and JSON in SQL Server SQL Server is a relational database for structured data. If you're regularly parsing JSON/XML in WHERE clauses, you're fighting the tool. Use proper normalization, or evaluate purpose-built document stores for genuinely unstructured data.

RTO & RPO? If you manage a business and don't know what these are, you better ask someone. Quietly. Here you go: - Recovery Time Objective (RTO): How long can we afford to be down? - Recovery Point Objective (RPO): How much data can we afford to lose? #Database #HADR #RTO #RPO

Duplicate Indexes: the evil twins of your database Check for duplicates and drop them. PS we obviously don't have anything against twins - just pointing out it's tougher to look after two (or more) identical kids (or indexes) at once :) #SQLServer #Indexes #DuplicateIndexes

Using WITH (NOLOCK) in SQL Server? That's a dirty read - and no, not that kind. :) It's fast, but comes with risks: partial updates, missing rows, duplicate data. Speed is great, but not if you sacrifice the truth. #SQLServer #NoLock #DirtyReads

What is HADR? High Availability (HA) keeps databases online during hardware or service hiccups. Disaster Recovery (DR) saves you when the whole car catches fire. When used together in a DB environment, that's HADR.
