Chatting to someone today who went for an interview recently and was told by the headteacher ‘if you get this job you can say goodby to your work/ life balance’
No wonder we’ve got a retention crisis.
@darynsimon
Almost as bad as when I went for my first job as an NQT and was told in an interview; "your written English is so bad, maybe you should JUST stick to being a sports coach". So I did. Took 5 years to finally get up the courage to apply for a classroom job again and do my NQT year.

I went to a recruitment evening for a new local academy about 10 years ago. “You’ll see there’s still lots of staff cars here at 7pm, it’s the same at 7am so it’s clear what I’ll expect of you if you work here”. I stood up and walked out.
@darynsimon
Why would anyone say that? It shows how important it is to see the interview process as two way. The interviewee has the responsibility to decide if the school is right for her/him
@darynsimon
I used to drive by a school where the ‘no one wants to be the first to leave ‘ syndrome was alive and kicking . If your at school at 7 pm what the hell are you doing ! Work smart
