Gonna be tough to top "two Franciscan monks who stopped on the otherwise empty beach in Malibu to watch me catch this guitarfish and then asked to pose with it" for surrealism in my 2020.

I know I’m supposed to be impressed by the band here but all I can think about is how there used to be music video budgets. If they made this vid today they’d share one parachute. No second take.

It's important to separate the art from the artist. I don't condone the rampant hooliganism of the Riverbottom Nightmare Band, but can't deny how much I dig their Blue Öyster Cult-meets-Beefheart styled songcraft.

I’m sorry…there’s NOTHING glamorous about a money doing cocaine???
Michael Gracey explains why they chose a CGI monkey to play Robbie Williams in his biopic ‘BETTER MAN’ “I think you feel more for an animal suffering than you do a human. There’s nothing glamorous about a monkey doing cocaine. It’s actually a bit sad & uncomfortable” (Source:

This post is about 1/1000th of the argument. Young Mexican American teenagers with an androgynous frontman running around the country with a hit record in 66 playing and hanging with every legendary artist. Iggy, Lou, Bruce, Ronnie Spector and Suicide were/are all huge fans.

Surely no way to look up whether he was 30 or “around 30” when the piece was published. That would border on music journalism.
In 1973, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards was around the age of 30 when New Musical Express ranked him atop its annual list of “rock stars most likely to die” within a year. He would hold the position uninterrupted for a decade. He's still here. Happy 81st Birthday!
