Over 200 people came to our summary talk and find display in Burghead and over 500 people came to the fort for our open day. Some amazing community engagement!

In the Lower Citadel the rampart collapse has sealed some fantastic 7/8th C deposits which we are returning to next year. Look at that section!!!

A first for us were found in the lower citadel, assorted with metalworking. Just look at how beautiful these Painted Pictish Pebbles are! The split one was found in two different distinct contexts.

A little snapshot of Burghead 2025. 8/9th C brooch pin like one from Dunadd associated with a post defined structure and a huge building with massive hearth in Upper Citadel, we are returning to that next year! You can see the flat stones wheich formed the basis of a turf wall.

A Pictish ring was found by volunteer John Ralph during a University of Aberdeen-led dig at Burghead, Moray, #OTD in 2023. Professor Gordon Noble said it further indicated 'the high-status production of metalwork' at the Pictish power centre. 📸National Museums Scotland
