What an excellent piece. Reminds me of Rushkoff's classic. Deep down, the economic elites do think about environmental collapse. They just have maladaptive, selfish, magical thinking-adjacent ways of dealing with it. Clueless and feel disempowered to change anything.

Out now, open access, our research article 'Gamification for Climate Change Engagement: A User-Centered Design Agenda'. We investigate the application of user-centered design and find key links between design choices and outcomes in 64 peer-reviewed empirical articles. .

2. 'Climate Connected: An Immersive VR and PC Game for Climate Change Engagement' is an entry to the Student Game Design Competition that describes the game used in the study above. The game is downloadable and playable for free from the supplemental materials!.

The results show that all three conditions had a large effect on learning, but there were no significant improvement differences between groups. Based on our observations, the article provides design recommendations for game-based and VR learning!.
