Last year I went to DefCon and a room at The Wynn was over $1000/night. Not going this year but rooms are far cheaper across the board. Vegas seems in trouble.

Pretty insane that for the transcon flights Iām taking this year with @Delta, the planes are on average over 25 years old. This wouldnāt be as big of a deal if the interiors were nice but most are 10+ years old. Iāve even flown on a plane recently where there were no outlets.

I think companies are optimizing their spending on cyber security for the wrong things. Thereās a huge push to develop SOCs that allow you to hire and deploy mid to low skilled people. All of the SaaS companies are optimizing for this because you can apply the same playbook.

I think we are entering a golden-age for personal software. If you have an opinionated taste for the āergonomicsā of how you interact with computers, then the cost for customization is dropping fast and headed to ~0. This seems good for the net productivity of society and will.

A lot of buyers for large organizations don't realize that there are only a few good LLMs out there and that everyone selling them an specialized AI solution is basically building tools & prompts around one of just a few AI systems and then giving it some impressive-seeming name.
