CAFE standards have now been eliminated in the OBBB. Trump’s bill eliminates penalties for automakers that fail to meet federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards. Previously, automakers that didn’t meet fuel economy targets had to either improve efficiency or buy.
