Superb to see Farage’s opening press conference reduced to a shambles by a series of protestors. Soon there’ll be no-one left in the room.

If you look closely at the fourth of these photographs you can see my daughter accidentally thumping @spunshon in the head.
Wonderful to have had the opportunity to say a few words at Lancaster Pride today. (Despite looks, I wasn’t singing!) And it was an absolute delight to meet the Typhoons, Lancashire’s first inclusive rugby club. Then of course it was back to the doorsteps with the team! 🏳️🌈💚

In other news, I'm booking a tour of Imaginary Friends, so if anyone wants to save me the trouble of emailing them and just book it via DM, slide in.

A venue I first toured to twenty years ago. A lovely venue. Not a badly run one. Ladies and gentlemen, UK arts infrastructure in 2024.

You often get Out of Office replies to tour booking emails, but today's the first time I've had one saying the company has gone into administration.

Re the Diane Abbott debacle and related disgraces, I surely can’t be the first to coin the nickname Keir Stalin?

ambition is always nice to see, especially when flies in off the crossbar. Super writing by @stewartwpringle , exquisitely acted in @JackMcNamara81 's gently intense, weird and beautiful production.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Bounds at @LiveTheatre. It starts as a fun caper about medieval football; it inflates and inflates like a pig's bladder, swallowing everything til by the end it's about war, nationalism, identity and almost all history since the reformation. Massive (1/2)

And actually that would probably be his best available strategy.

Half expecting Sunak to come out tomorrow and say fuck it, I can’t be doing with this, we’re not going to bother campaigning.

“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” Maya Angelou In light of the calling of the general election, I offer the following thread which I’ve been collating since December 2020…
Exactly a year ago there was a UK general election. It was won by the Conservative and Unionist Party based on their manifesto ( https://t.co/fPDzyJalRi) A manifesto is “a public declaration of policy and aims, especially”. Let’s (selectively) check in on some of those aims...

It’s strange to me that amid all the clamour about Damien Hirst’s works not being created when he says they were, people seem totally unbothered that they weren’t created by Damien Hirst.

Leeds United fans have an important early role to play in this general election campaign, in submitting Sunak to an almighty barracking when they meet his team in the playoff final this weekend. A couple of good chants could soundtrack the whole election summer. Suggestions?
