Hello! We’re Dangerous Ladies, a small woman-owned and operated, LGBTQ+ friendly costuming company that has been providing resin kits, 3D printed props, patterns, textiles, and other accessories to the community since 2013. Visit us at 🌈🇨🇦
The Etsy fees are atrocious, but this is the real scam to me: that Etsy is flooded with dropshipped wholesale goods sold at a steep mark-up, so artists have to pay Etsy's advertising fees just to be seen on the site amongst the deluge of cheap wholesale goods.
I appreciate that more game studios are putting out "cosplay guides", but the information within can be varying levels of helpful –– eye-dropped colour swatches, eye colours, misidentified of fabrics, etc. So here are some ideas for what would actually be useful to cosplayers:

One of our Ladies, Ele, has passed away from health complications. She was 41.
While Ele hasn’t been with the company for a year, those of you who commissioned us or bought from us in 2020-2022 will have likely talked to her or had her hands in getting your kits out.
A gift for the FFXIV fans: Free 3D print files for grapes! Print your own grapes! Paint photorealistic grapes and grape leaves onto them! The sky is the limit with polygons.
Ohhh yes! Nessa is here and is good to go :) Let’s throw those rookie trainers into the deep end. Printed crop top and short sets on moisture-wicking, chlorine-resistance spandex, available in mix and match sizes.
Update on the
@Etsy
situ: despite the copyright claims against us being withdrawn, Etsy has decided not to reinstate our account and refuses to explain or discuss our case. We are getting template emails in response. As such, we will not be returning to Etsy in any capacity.
Hi all! Etsy has suspended our store; we've filed an appeal but it may take a few weeks. In the meantime, we are working on completing orders, and can still be found on Storenvy; we would absolutely love for you to support us in this time.
There's a few things left to be done on Aerith's Remake jacket, but she's getting there! Most of the pockets are functional, buckles are all functional, zippers are functional. Just the custom gold studs on the shoulder tabs and lapels left to add!
Interest check: kits for Link's funky arm.
- flat silicone casts made to be adhered to a spandex fabric sleeve
- arm parts cast in gold with a glow-worm stripe
- fabric included
- rings resin 3D printed in custom sizes
- $375 USD if we can get 5 people
You know what? We got an academy Dedue order. It only took seven months and literally hundreds of student kits, but we have finally gotten a Dedue order, and that is cause for celebration. We love Dedue.
Tharja’s neck piece! Shiny gold cold-cast, flexible, paintable, slightly adjustable. The back is open so it can be worn tighter or looser. Can be trimmed with scissors! So straightforward.
Testing a prototype of Winter Schnee’s sword. One sword becomes two and then back again! This one still needs some tweaking. Modelled by (IG)_craftcentric
Claude's pauldron! This is going to be moulded and then cast in urethane rubber, so if you want to do funny somersaults and flip through the air, you absolutely could. The "ribbon" pieces are separate too. Pre-orders should be up early next week :)
1. The highest res renders you've got, ideally on white/transparent backgrounds, as it's much easier to print out.
2. Turnarounds! Give me 8-16 points of rotation of a character in T pose dead-on, plus topdown and angled views. Ie, Lumie Lumie's exports are a good start:
We are very disappointed by this as we've been dedicated, high-rated sellers on their platform for years, and Etsy helped new cosplayers find us, but we've operated without Etsy before, and we'll continue to operate on our own website from now on.
At long last! Dimitri's Areadbhar from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The 3D print files are up!
This is a big boy at 84" long, with print files cut for both 200mm and 300mm printers.
Here's a funky specialty one –– Gavis Bettel's whip/sword. It's designed to be printed in TPU (though I prefer the handle in PLA, personally) so you can actually coil it up, whip it around, etc. Pictures of our printed set next week >:)
We're Live! 🎉🎉 Our deepest thanks from the bottom of our hearts while we spent the last few days working through all of the hurdles that were thrown at us!
A big thank you to our followers and friends! The past night has been devastating; we're working as fast as we can to get on track. Many of you have asked how else you can help, so we've started a campaign. This will keep our staff paid and our lights on!
3. Do the same as 2 but with layers removed; if the character wears armour, remove some outer armour pieces to show the garments underneath. If they wear a skirt/long coat, show me the legs underneath. Ie, Games Fashion Archive's models allow you to look at parts of models.
Be our guest! We’ve teamed up with M'aya (
@rolanberrypie
) to bring you Ready Check, A Networking Mixer Party. Win up to $250usd in gift cards to our online store and mingle with other Warriors of Light before FanFest begins! Attending is free!
Preview shots of part of our Vash arm 👀 All pieces are modular, so you can scale every part differently for your hand, and we'll include pre-scaled sizing for different fingers.
5. Close-ups of fabric textures... but don't identify them. I find these incorrect more often than not. Positive example, this page is detailed but it doesn't put the burden on an intern or graphic designer properly identifying a fabric.
3D print files for Edelgard's Amyr axe relic are up!! This is a big baby -- finishes at 55" and is loaded with internal support dowels that can be installed as collapsible for storage/travel :)
If you're reading this and like to buy on Etsy: if you want to buy from someone on Etsy, look to see if they sell on another platform and buy there, or message the seller asking if you can email them, and then ask to buy off-site in the email. Etsy "reads" messages and will
We did a Toga knife for a client and for fun I made a version that retracts. There’s a slot inside it for a spring, but it works pretty decently on gravity alone!
Are we doing this? Let's do this. Leggings up already, dress fabric will be up in a couple hours, but design will be pending better references for the proportions of the cat logo.
6. Don't identify something unless you're sure. I would believe the necklaces to be worn paint over wood, but the beads can't be "dyed" because wood is porous and the dye would penetrate deeper, "velvet"... where'd she get velvet? "Anodized cable" doesn't match how it MOVES.
These costumes are SO busy and have so many things going on... why focus on swatches and some tiny tiny "close-ups" but not the seams, the under layers, etc? I can see her leggings are orange, thank you.
And if you're reading this and are selling on Etsy: start setting up your own personal website or platform now. If we didn't have a site already in progress, we wouldn't have survived this. This can happen at any time. Protect yourself. Start now.
First pass at our new friends' kits! LOTS of changes to make, as well as the myriad of other accessories for these kits, but I just wanted to get a rough feel for these. The coloured ribbons themselves likely won't be a part of the kit, but the brooches, end pieces and bars will.
Here's an odd one today -- 3D print files for Marshall from Animal Crossing. We have two Marshall lovers on our team so it was a silly whim. He comes with swappable bodies; a long sleeved shirt, a maid dress and a naked body for sculpting your own.
We don't want to spam and retweet everyone, but sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts: thank you for all the support and kind words. This is a devastating blow to our business and the next few weeks will be crucial to us, so your kindness is incredibly heartfelt.
Today in Ladies With Giant Props: our Gae Bolg from Final Fantasy XIV! It finishes at 92" tall, and is seen here with
@aelynn000
(5'3" for scale), who is apparently going to run home and print her own.
Misc. BTS: This is what Lucina looks like under the cape! You can see the arrangement of the spaulders that the shoulder pauldrons attach to, as well as the snaps that keep the cape in position.
Kirsty is moving to her own website very soon — Etsy is now systematically targeting fan artists making transformative work from Zelda. We’re strong advocates that all fan artists who rely on their income on transformative works to establish storefronts elsewhere.
I posted on insta about this but heads up for twitter kids - yes one of my listings got hit by et*y's system as 'counterfeit' (a not a copyright claim). I was up to 3am completely gutting tags, titles and descriptions. I am genuinely worried, but I don't know much more.
One of the awesome things we got to do at
#Kupocon
this weekend was gift
@The_Ben_Starr
a replica of Clive’s short sword! (We figured Invictus would be a little cumbersome to travel with. 🤭)
Plus, if all the reference is of characters in T pose, slack faced, etc, you don't have to worry about people taking your 5 billion GB super-hi-res promo shots and sticking them on t-shirts or whatever. This image is functionally useless to anyone but cosplayers and fanartists.
And don't get me wrong, I don't think jewelry at $1.50 is ethically made, buying it from the source isn't exactly great either, but I am saying: is Etsy really a market for hand crafted goods by artists if all of this flies?
A peek at some updates for the next few days. Loogs will be shipping out over the next few days, BF flag and Edelgard cape eagle preorders, and Sothis fabric!
Urianger accessories cold-cast and lightly sanded along the edges and backs. They look satisfying all laid out while some pieces wait for gems! Kits like this make cosplaying characters with intricate details a lot more simple.
Ideally those textures should be large and show context. On the other hand, I find this one completely incomprehensible because the "colorpicking" doesn't match the costume in any useful way + the close-ups aren't really that detailed/are often obscured/blocked.
Good morning! Today we mould Falchion. Our last touch on it this morning is adding the runes; they’re a nice little raised detail. It says, backwards: “when all else is lost, the future still remains”!
On top of speaking publicly, we'll also be filing paperwork with the BBB and exploring legal venues. Etsy nearly took us down as a business by suspending us based on unfounded and withdrawn claims. That won't stand.
We got a second studio space today!! We have been on top of each other for monthssss so we are extra excited to have more space to make things for you all 💗
If you don't know what drop shipping is, it's when someone sets up a shop/website where they sell you an item for, say, $20, and instead of making it/going to their warehouse and sending it to you, they pay a factory overseas $1 to ship it directly to you.
Song of Broken Pines from Genshin Impact! Just cutting it up for printing now, but it's a 62" long claymore. I thiiiink I am finagling a way for the blade to print separately from the gold parts to make painting a little big easier.
Examples of our Clive Rosfield flexible armor pieces! We'll be using the same materials to cast Zelda's Twilight Princess pauldrons, which are also available for preorder on
Old moulds get new life — instead of throwing silicone in the garbage (where it will never degrade), we chop it up and use it as filler in new moulds. This is all platinum cure silicone, so as long as we put it in like moulds, it’ll all fuse together as one again.
It's a bittersweet end; despite the extraordinarily high fees, eroded seller support, ludicrous Star Seller expectations and broad decay of Etsy's reputation as a place for handcrafted, indie-made goods, we did enjoy our time on Etsy and met many amazing cosplayers through it.
Calling FFXIV cosplayers:
With Fanfest coming up, we've got a lot of quotes going out for different characters, so here's a quick thread for some projects –– the more people who preorder, the more affordable the kit. If any interest you, email dangerousladies
