An encouraging step for sure! Let’s hope it’s just the beginning of a much larger initiative.
At City Hall, @NYCMayor announces a pilot program (already underway) to move 80 unsheltered homeless New Yorkers directly into city-owned SROs run by the organization Volunteers of America-NY “It’s radical but it’s practical,” he says. It’s a different message than he had…

Perplexing to me how few people of my over-65 cohort seem to have availed themselves of this effective treatment.

Sad that these hotels are being closed before residents can be safely relocated to transitional or permanent housing. A tragic missed opportunity to make longterm progress to help unhoused citizens. California is to be applauded for their plans to take hotel conversion to scale.

@openheartsnyc @NYCMayor @NYCMayor Adams should make a bold #HomelessRightsMonth move and order his DHS to switch to the #HousingFirst model. Its inventor @SamTsemberis and researchers @DeborahPadgett5 @danbherman are all in NYC, and I'd add @emmytiderington @JonGiftosMD @DavidFBrand and us to the panel.
