Yesterday I lost my Dad to Coronavirus. I’m broken as are my mum, brother & sister. He fought so many health problems but couldn’t fight this one. For those you hold dear, PLEASE follow the advice. As a paramedic, I couldn’t save my Dad and that tears me apart. Stay strong & safe
@helloimnicholas
I’m just hopeful the news report of dying within 2 nanoseconds was accurate (4 nanoseconds for the brain to pick up what was happening). So tragically sad.
Just realised its my 23rd anniversary of being in
@stjohnambulance
today too! What a way to spend it - surrounded by our brilliant people keeping communities safe.
Exceptionally excited to introduce the world to our new
@SJA_ACR
@stjohnambulance
@PaNDR_EOE
ambulance - specially designed for our specialist work looking after critically unwell children.
This evening is the final one for me at
@SECAmbulance
and I get to spend it with a great friend who came down to specifically work it with me. Humbled.
Taken from a
@stjohnambulance
person’s social:
Today a lady cried as she left the vaccination centre in XX. She said on the way out "I've waited for this moment since last year, I've not seen anyone except family through a window. Thank you for giving my freedom back to me"
❤️
Today we can reveal some amazing news. Our
@stjohnambulance
@SJAOperations
Homeless Service team that operates in Brighton and Hastings received this brilliant news from
@CareQualityComm
An incredible service which justifiably got a brilliant inspection outcome. 👏👏
It’s only taken about about 18
@stjohnambulance
years but we’ve finally found a little time to crew together! Best of luck
@AdamWilliamsSJA
, not that you’ll need it of course!
As the
@stjohnambulance
National Commander this wk, I cannot be any more proud of teams who responded to calls for help across the country. They’re truly inspiring people and I’m privileged to work alongside them! First aiders for rest centres, Amb Crews, Command Teams. Just Wow!
Pleased to see the first new
@SJA_ACR
@stjohnambulance

Great to welcome this amazing group of
@stjohnambulance
people to the
@SJA_ACR
team today in Birmingham. They’ve all graduated as Emergency Ambulance Crew today and will be out caring for patients from next week. Well done all!
Clinical day today with
@stjohnambulance
supporting the local healthcare system. Today we have a student with us too, so they’re riding up front to get a full experience of the role.
A friend asked my advice on how to handle 1st paramedic shift. After some casual banter, I summed it up as: ‘...nothing changed the day you registered. You were professional, knowledgeable and talented the day before you registered too!’ Any other tips for them?
I’m humbled and so exceptionally proud of all that our
@stjohnambulance
people are doing this week, not only for HM’s funeral and keeping people safe, but delivering our CQC inspections as well as keeping our normal activity going too. A huge thank you for all you’re doing.
So we’re expanding again! This time, we’ve just opened our next cohort for volunteer

You’re an incredible force Steph, and you should rightly be proud of your award and all you stand for. I stand with you. You exist. You matter.
Absolutely loved seeing our newest

#CastleDonington
- great to see happy teams, co-located to deliver outstanding Critical Care transport services to patients, soon to be joined by Urgent & Emergency care services too.
The best hit about working all day in the sun? Getting the boots off at the end of the day! Nice to feel you’ve made a difference to people at their time of need
PROUD MOMENT ALERT!!
St John Ambulance – 100,000 hours caring for patients during COVID-19.
As of today (Wednesday 10 June) St John Ambulance people have spent more than 100,000 hours on the frontline of the fight against COVID-19.
The joy of
@stjohnambulance
is the monumental team feel here. A replacement 4x4 was needed for an
@SJAOperations
event this weekend, so popped it along the coast for the team. What a gloriously sunny evening for it! (Mine was the one parked the right way around 🤭!)
As we exit what has been a very difficult and different year, I’m proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our amazing
@stjohnambulance
#StJohnPeople
today in supporting NHS Ambulance Services across England. Thanks to you all for your efforts this year.
In absolute awe of the incredible
@stjohnambulance
people who are planning, preparing, stepping up and supporting all that’s going on at the moment. Stay safe out there all, and a huge thanks for your efforts.
@MrMattNeal
@andyb_1981

Absolutely in awe of how so many
@stjohnambulance
@SJA_ACR
Ambulance Crews have stepped up, and continue to do so over the coming days, to help various
@NHSuk
#AmbulanceServices

Pleased to see our next 20 bespoke
@stjohnambulance
ambulances from
@WASAmbulances
are on their way to
@SJAOperations
in time for Christmas! They’ll be used by all our crews across all our frontline activities to support outstanding patient care.
It’s a joyous thing to feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when you read an email from a
@stjohnambulance
patient who suffered a Cardiac Arrest where our amazing volunteers were literally the difference between a life saved and a life lost. Truly humbling.
#Amazing
Two days as
@stjohnambulance
National Tactical Commander almost complete as I hand the reigns over to
@CraigAHarman
tomorrow morning to carry us through the next few days. What an incredible couple of days. I’m emotional at the sheer efforts everyone’s putting in. Truly wonderful

Fingers crossed this means as much protection as possible. That plus actually having had the actual virus too! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Incredible health service this country has.
So lovely to head to the snowy North West today to see some of my leadership team in our purpose built Warrington
#Ambulance
base. Impressive new fleet has arrived to support our
@SJAOperations
delivery in partnership with
@NWTStransport
From leading our operation across England yesterday to being a
@stjohnambulance
#paramedic
today providing support to a sporting event behind closed doors. The variety this organisation offers is great!
An absolute privilege to meet some of our newly qualified
@SJAOperations
Emergency Ambulance Crews yesterday at their graduation day in
#Cambridge
. Welcome to the
@stjohnambulance
team all!
Despite a hat and suncream, still managed a little cheek reddening today out supporting a
@stjohnambulance
@SJAOperations
event local to home. Please stay hydrated today and seek shade where you can.
Today was an amazing
@stjohnambulance
#MySJADay
as I bought my new Ambulance Operations Leadership Team together to start looking at how we’ll work together as a team in leading our incredible people. Can’t wait to repeat it with our Volunteer Leaders joining them soon too!
Happy
#InternationalParamedicsDay
to all my incredible colleagues across
@stjohnambulance
You support the incredible work our organisation does in so many communities, across all of our programmes. From youth work to event medicine, logistics to safeguarding.
Simply, thank you
The countdown is ending. Just today and Sunday left to go putting an NHS uniform on. Been a privilege to have served but all good things end at some point.
This was my last 10 days. Damn you COVID... You won’t stop me. Had you, done with you. Now back to it to! Thanks to an amazing team for holding the fort.
Our incredible
@stjohnambulance
@SJA_ACR
people are the gift that keeps on giving. In Feb, collectively, they’ve added 935 additional shifts to support
@AACE_org
@NHSEngland
ambulance services across the country. Hats off to you all - thanks for being the difference
Busy little day so far supporting
@IOWNHS
@OFFICIALIOWAS
on the ‘other’ island today. Been made to feel very welcome so far. Officially mealbreak time now.
Landed back in England today from a break in Norwegian Fjords and truly humbled by the messages of congratulations I’ve seen from colleagues, friends and contacts about my new
@stjohnambulance
role as Head of Ambulance Operations starting 01/09
Bursting with pride to be able to reveal the outcome of our first 2 inspections this year from
@CareQualityComm
- our
@SJAOperations
teams should be so proud of achieving Good across the board with pockets of Outstanding too. I certainly am.
Could not be any prouder, not only of the c100
@stjohnambulance
volunteers keeping people safe at today’s
#RoyalWedding2018
but also of the additional few hundred keeping people safe at scores of other events today too. A huge thank you for all you’re doing in your communities!
Popped to our
@stjohnambulance
national logistics hub to sort some bits and bumped into two incredible volunteers from North England delivering more uniforms back for redistribution. They’ve driven the length of England to help. 👏👏
Not only do we have scores of
@stjohnambulance
first aiders, HCPs and Ambulance crews out at
#BrightonMarathonWeekend
we've also got an incredible 400 volunteers at events elsewhere too today! Not forgetting 3 amazing days at Aintree too recently!
#ThankYou
Since 1 April,
@stjohnambulance
have deployed 1,673 ambulance shifts in support of
@NHS
@NHSEngland
@AACE_org
The impact this is having on patients in remarkable - reduced waiting times, reduced load on NHS Amb Crews and great community support.
From humble beginnings, with humble ambulances, to modern day beauty. Today, I managed to steal away some time to remember the foundations
@stjohnambulance
@StJohnEngland
are built on in our wonderful museum. Reaffirms everything that is good about this place! 🥰☺️
So pleased to have introduced this in
@stjohnambulance
a while back now. Some great cases of utilisation, inc statutory partners calling our crew for backup to use it too where they don’t carry it. Great for patient care.
A part of my role I absolutely love. Welcoming newly qualified
@stjohnambulance
volunteer Emergency Ambulance Crew to
@SJAOperations
- 6 more join our team today! Well done all.
Great to be out with our brilliant
@stjohnambulance
people today keeping
@EpsomRacecourse
safe today. Briefings done and off to immersive scenarios before deploying. Have a great day!
If anyone needs proof on who wears the trousers in this leadership team, just ask
@AdamWilliamsSJA
and I who are supervising this from a distance! Isn’t it marvellous to see
@CraigAHarman
and
@sjaecollins
practicing what they preach!
The day our full senior leadership team finally came together. Introducing you to the
@stjohnambulance
@SJA_ACR
Ambulance Operations Senior Leadership Team. First Team meeting feels a little different to what was planned!
So it’s the last day of the year and our amazing
@stjohnambulance
#volunteers
are at it again. Nearly 1,000 of them out this evening across the country keeping people safe. If you’re coming to London, stay safe and maybe see you on the ground!
So proud today to be amongst so many amazing
#StJohnPeople
from across
@SJAOperations
to celebrate all we delivered on behalf of communities nationally in 2022, as well as celebrating being
@CareQualityComm
#Good
across England too.
As we bid goodbye to 2021, I’d like to pay tribute to our amazing ambulance crews, operations centre staff & all the
@SJA_ACR
leadership/support team here at
@stjohnambulance
on behalf of patients & customers for all you’ve given this year. Just simply, thank you. For everything.
Out supervising
@CraigAHarman
today whilst we’re deployed supporting the NHS with
@SJA_ACR
@stjohnambulance
He’s just broken out the CPD list so presume he’s bored of me by now 🤷🏻♂️
Really pleased to have the next of our National
@stjohnambulance
@SJA_ACR
Ambulance Crew Briefings this evening where we have a direct forum with all our crews. Who’s in??
How’s the start of your Christmas going? I spent mine with family, including a nephew and a niece who had clearly been loaded with e-numbers already 🤣🤣
Truly humbled to see the efforts people are going to in order to support the
@NHS
in this difficult time. Also continue to be astounded by the amazing support
@stjohnambulance
people are giving - thank you for everything you’re doing!
Back in 2019, we committed many things to our
@stjohnambulance
people. 1 was a new
#Ambulance
fleet (which they designed). Since then, we’ve invested in around 100 new ambulances which means we’re now retiring the entire Crusader fleet by Christmas.
The final hurrah for the mighty Crusader.
Next week
@stjohnambulance
are retiring our Crusader Class Ambulance that entered service in 1999. These phenomenonal vehicles revolutionised SJA & served faithfully since
TR105 has already responded to a patient on its retirement event
Could not be prouder of the HUGE
@stjohnambulance
team out across London & South Englandd today... there's close to 260 volunteers active today on 42 events who will give 2,070hrs of their time to keep people safe today! What a view the guys on
#IsleofWight
had this morning!
This Bank Holiday weekend our
@stjohnambulance
teams not only support hundreds of events like
@ManchesterPride
&
@NHCarnivalLDN
but they continue to deliver our vital and critical services too like
@ConnectNW_Neo
and others. Have a safe BH all, & thank you for all you’re doing!
