This is exactly right. So many thoughts about what happened in Buffalo today. Among them; this is why DEI initiatives are crucial in public schools. White supremacy is real. Misogyny is real. Homophobia and transphobia are real. We must continue DEI work to help prevent hate.

Hate has no place... We must educate our children early and often about the contributions of all citizens. Children devoid of balanced perspectives are more likely to believe and act on pretenses harmful to themselves and others. Pray for Buffalo, NY!

I’ve been thinking with districts recently about restructuring communications systems with families. Even though the “new normal” has increased opportunities for engagement, not all groups are equally able to take part. #personalizedforequity

Equity provides a powerful reason to personalize learning for students. It also requires us to reimagine the systems that are not supporting the success of all students. What systems might we reimagine? #personalizedforequity @EdElements

Educators who want to personalize learning should prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion because this creates the environment where #personalizedlearning is most likely to be successful. How does this resonate with you? #personalizedforequity @EdElements

A1: If we've learned anything this fall, it's that connections trump content every day. And it can be vital for young people to see connections from their own backgrounds, interests and identities in their educators #personalizedforequity
