As much as I have defended the press, starting off every question session with "do you blame yourself" or "do you regret" is getting old. There are far more important questions out there.
And while I'm a big fan of the PM's communication style, when our livelihoods etc are in the balance, I'd rather get the key info first followed by the reasoning. This isn't Winston grandstanding on coalition night, or Dom Bowden on NZ Idol. We'll keep listening, I promise!

Just had to endure a rabid Lisa Owen savaging the Minister of Health on RNZ as if he had personally caused the Auckland cluster through some sort of devious means. He kept his cool ... but I almost lost it as a listener! Not convinced her "perp walk" approach is appropriate!

That's right. The only outcome of a focus on failure is a shitload of people incentivised to ensure everyone else fails more than them. Depressing.

Always more impressed when journos come up with their own questions rather than recycling political party talking points.

This has been the house style of Checkpoint for a v long time, through multiple governments and good times and bad times. Itβs an excellent test of a politicianβs mettle if they can cope with Mary Wilson, John Campbell or Lisa Owen.

Goddamit tho BUT WHO WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILTIY. Someone must take it. Learning from ones mistakes get fucked, you must take RESPONSIBILITY.
