It's been a fairly quiet year for me on the photography front with only a few dedicated trips out, but I think when I did get opportunity it was fairly productive, here's a few favourites. Happy new year one and all. #YearInReview2022

Just back from a week on Skye with the family. First time there and what a stunning landscape. It wasn't a photography trip, most days the camera stayed home. So here's the one and only proper photo, taken from the back of our cottage in Carbost on a beautiful atmospheric morning

As it's been unseasonably warm today I'm going to cool things down with some more frost from back in early Jan.

A slightly more subtle take on the fantastic frost and light from last weekend, these are the sort of conditions where I can't stand still, I just love wandering around looking at how the light changes and trying to find small scenes that catch my eye.

Another one from Saturday. There's many reasons I love silver birch, one of them being just how much their branches catch the frost, and when you throw some morning winter light into the mix, getting this transient state before the frost burns off, it's hard to go wrong.

After not using the camera in months this is now my 3rd time out with it in just a couple of weeks. I couldn't resist heading back to one of my favourite spots when I saw the temperatures that were forecast this morning.

This is the same tree as the previous photo but a different composition, I normally try to avoid having things like fences in my photos but liked the diagonal lines this added.

We didn't get much snow here compared to others, and it rained straight after so just turned to a wet slush, but there was a nice bit of fog alongside to add some mood.

Just a tree in the fog, from a short break in the Peaks over the Christmas holiday. I've barely touched my camera in months, so while I didn't spend a lot of time with it on this trip it felt good to take a few photos in my favourite sort of atmospheric conditions.

With the sun finally coming out I thought it was time to post a new addition to my periphery of darkness series. You can see the rest at https://t.co/grRaFtqWRU

It's not looking like it'll be very wintry over Christmas this year, so I'll have to share a few more from 3 weeks back.

We didn't get anywhere near the cold snap compared to further up north, but there were still some areas where the silver birch got a good coating of frost last weekend.

Mostly melted now so had to make the most of it with a quick dash out to the local golf course this morning
