Oil sands industry ad claims emissions per barrel cut 30% in past 20 years. Omits that total # of barrels has tripled. Real story: 2005-2017 oil sands emissions up from 36Mt to 81Mt; 45Mt rise cancels out all cuts in Canada’s electricity sector since 2005.
