For context: I hate the whole media hype about supermoons and concurrences with astrology / calendar related things like blue moons and harvest moons. We don't need these stupid labels to say that the moon is awesome! Just go look at it! Who cares if it looks 10% bigger!

#AstronomyQuestion : Why does this graph of distance of the moon to Earth (from https://t.co/Vf52iosVr0) show much greater variation in the perigee than the apogee? Roughly 10k km vs maybe 2k km?
