These NIH grants studied the biological effects of hormones in animals not transgender identity. Research on hormone treatments advances scientific understanding, but sex-related biology in animals does not equate to gender studies. Misrepresenting this fuels misinformation.
Yesterday, @NIH cancelled seven grants for transgender experiments on animals including: - $532K to “use a mouse model to investigate the effects of cross-sex testosterone treatment” - $33K to test “feminizing hormone therapy in the male rat”
