Lovely afternoon planning routes for clients who wanted two days cycling Ypres Salient & Messines Ridge with some of the climbs of Gent-Wevelgem thrown in for good measure. I can’t guide that weekend but have created a bespoke route for them to follow. #cycling #Ypres #Flanders

Thinking back to summer visits to the Amiens battlefield of August 1918. Here, we stopped at the beautiful Hillside Cemetery between Caix and Le Quesnel in the Canadian sector #cycling #battlefields #WW1 #outdoors #bikeride

A visit to Adanac Military Cemetery between Courcelette and Miraumont. a fascinating site right on the Canadian #Somme battlefield of October-November 1916. Note the Canadian maple leaf on the gate. #cycling #betterbybike #battlefields #WW1 #velo

Spent an amazing day cycling the Somme battlefields, following Cathie's great great uncle's last weeks. All made possible by the fantastic research and beautiful bike route put together by @jbanningww1 @cyclingthefront to whom we're incredibly grateful.

Really looking forward to taking my two kids and niece to see this tomorrow. Great to have the pros riding on roads I use (albeit a lot quicker!) @TourofBritain #cycling

Delighted that info and images on Cycling the Battlefields will be in the October issue of b.inspired, the the inflight magazine for Brussels Airlines. They are doing a section on Ypres in their 'Discover Belgium' feature. Hope it gets more people out #cycling!

A quick spin around the Somme late afternoon. I was struck by how close a new wind turbine will be to the Guards Memorial at Lesboeufs. See video. #Somme #cycling

Today's the centenary of the Battle of Le Hamel on the Somme. A fascinating action involving a joint attack between the AIF & AEF with British support. 93 minutes to achieve all objectives. We visited the site and memorial on our recent cycling tour #Somme #WW1 #bike #cycling
