The reason I get my kids to church on Sundays without seeking their consent is the exact reason why I send them to school without their consent. It’s also the exact reason I give them their drugs when they are ill(no matter how bitter the drug is) without their consent.

They are super useful. Rule of thumb: let your actions or words not remind them that they are at the lower rung of the ladder. They already know that. Acknowledge them. This is why I will always ask Mama Esther to give everyone a plate of rice/beans and pure water. Goodwill.

I understand that it might be tough to always be present as a dad, but my suggestion is to factor this into your work schedule. You don't have to attend everything, but for these special moments —competitions, recitals, etc. —please be there. It makes a world of difference.
Children’s end of session party, 97% present parents are mothers, 3% are fathers. Children will forever lean more towards their mothers 🤦🏽♂️😭.
