Technology is good so long as it allows you to go deeper into reality, not flee from it.

hate to admit it, but I am becoming a fan of the Amazon-style memo reading at the beginning of a meeting.

Custom GPTs as automated tests in a knowledge-worker "CI pipeline". Picture a workflow where a custom GPT acts like an automated acceptance test. A deliverable never reaches a manager or verifier until it clears criteria encoded in that GPT:. 1. Rubric-driven scoring. The GPT’s.

That Christianity is inexhaustibly mysterious, but not esoteric (and radically exoteric, even), is something that's lost on a lot of Gnostic technologists.

Food* is definitely getting more expensive. Starting to really feel it. *groceries, somewhat — dining out (esp. "fast casual"), almost definitely.

Git, public/private key cryptography, and backprop are fundamentally political innovations. The mechanics of git should be taught in polisci curricula. Really incredible stuff. The open source space needs to be studied more by liberal arts types.

A weird idea I think about is the “gossip protocol”. Some agent or memory layer knows a tremendous amount about me and then intelligently delivers that info to apps and other people. From old notes:

agent gossip network is still one of the most underrated (and I think will be completely obvious in retrospect) ideas that no-one has built yet. my agent should be able to chat with yours and bring the good stuff to my attention. no outbound or inbound per se - just 'sidebound'.

ai-generated multimedia is for the stuff that would literally never get produced otherwise, e.g., 'flash fiction' in re Trinitarian theology (St. Thomas v. Rahner) set in a universe adjacent to Megalopolis:

They're going to bundle the open source model with the io device, aren't they?. Eyeball auth that links your OpenAI account to the Worldcoin wallet for agentic commerce. Local model kicks up exceptions and context for long-running tasks to GPT-5. And so on.

This is true on the receiving end—you need to be incredibly focused on digesting the agent's output back to you so that you can make subtle corrections and update your own understanding of the cybernetic process (and, then, ultimate product) in which you're participating.

I now often pace and think and slowly dictate every single word that I put into Deep Research or Claude Code with such care that it might be twenty minutes between my first and last utterance (and why @superwhisperapp is by far the best dictation tool for prompting agents).
