It’s so difficult to find any words, Its just so sad. Anthony never stopped pushing for fairness and justice. He was incredibly kind, funny, supportive, Just a really good person and a really lovely friend!

“Anthony gave selflessly. He pushed past the trauma of his experience and told his story to help force change for others,” a tribute to the former Army veteran reads.

Can these changes be implemented immediately. We have victims still awaiting awards and review decisions on nil awards.

The Windrush scandal was years ago, but its victims are still waiting for justice. That changes today. We’re now making the Windrush Compensation Scheme fairer and faster - recognising the long-term financial impacts and prioritising those most in need.

The Home Office is not fit for purpose. It is structured in such a way as to make sound, evidence-based policy-making in the public interest next to impossible. It needs to be split up and replaced. Luckily the Greens have a plan for how to do it👇👇👇

It’s 2025 and we’re watching a white person abuse the power of her position in the chair of our Parliament in an attempt to silence a black woman calling out racism. Are you kidding me? This deserves a lot more attention. This should make you sick.

I honestly think we can’t have people like @MikeTappTweets near the windrush compensation schemes, his tweets make me uncomfortable.

A win for Windrush campaigners: Private pension losses will now be compensated under the #Windrush Compensation Scheme--important considering the age of claimants. BUT without free legal representation, access to compensation is hampered. https://t.co/mD4Csl62yt @hrw

#Windrush victims to get 75% of compensation up front. Whereas this is welcomed, the problems are: 1. Inaccurate decisions mostly overturned on review 2. Disregarding of evidence 3. Time taken to get offers, etc. The 75% must be of an accurate offer.

The whole scheme needs revamping. Making over 75 a priority is ridiculous. The VPT was created to deal with that. The priority should start from age 60. The scheme needs legal assistance, trauma assistance, and a team that is qualified in dealing with compensation claims.

Absolute injustice: 75% of 0 is still 0. Home Office continues to mark its own mistakes, causing further harm by covering up with inadequate offers. This delays justice, forcing victims to wait years for clearly wrong decisions. Every case reviewed by the ombudsman has been

Legal advice, because windrush victims are getting £0 or low compensation. Inquiry, because there has been no accountability and lives lost. For Windrush victims, because the Home office is hostile and there has been little to no justice!

Firm, because that’s leadership. Fair, because decency is at the core of our nations values. For Britain, because our great country comes first, the Tories broke us, but we are fixing it.

As anti-immigrant rhetoric grows in the UK, TRT World revisits the Windrush scandal - a defining chapter in the country’s history of racism. After WWII, hundreds of thousands of Caribbean immigrants were invited to help rebuild the nation. But later, Britain betrayed them

This is like Child Q all over again, strip searching a child without consent, a sexual assault. Only getting final written warnings, absolutely disgusting.

It’s lucky that the media & politicians have immigration to frame as the biggest threat to UK ‘s ‘ cultural coherence ‘ . It means they never have to discuss ‘ class ‘ & the absurd privilege & obscene inequalities it has enshrined for generations.

Too many of the Windrush generation are still waiting for the justice they deserve, years after the scandal was first exposed. This is unacceptable and it must change. That’s why victims will now receive faster and fairer compensation – with those most in need prioritised.

The changes mean very little, so many victims have been refused compensation. The scheme is set to compensate as little as possible without legal support, victims still face a long fight to get justice.

@ctobierre Yes!!! 75% of zero is still zero. And the need for review after review means the process will still take years. This is a hurriedly put together quick win ahead of today's WNO conference.
