not news to anyone but yuma kagiyama’s skills in every single aspect of his skating are so evidently above any skater in this event it’s not even funny like that step sequence is just ridiculous

its ok we can be honest....theyre really not good skaters
Chock and Bates are great skaters—there’s no question about it—but there is just something so unremarkable about their skating. They could not compete with the top teams in the last two Olympic cycles, but now they’re considered the new standard of ice dance.

Neither Lilah or Lewis have strong skating skills even tho people mostly single out Lilah. Lewis edges actually sometimes look more shallow than Lilah's. However, Lilah's posture & extension really are weak as her hips stick out a lot & her feet are always flexed. I do think the

found a really quick way for my irls to spot subpar skating in ice dance: way to tell when the woman CANNOT skate is that every time they need to speed up, the man is physically dragging her. see: chock/bates, fear/gibson, davis/white.
