Announcing Cosmos SDK v0.53.0: extensibility and customization. Teams only need to add one new line of code to your app.go files to upgrade. New features include unordered transactions, epochs, custom minting, and new community pool and governance capabilities.

5/ v0.53.0 also delivers major bug fixes and quality of life improvements. We will continue to push these along with features in future releases. Upgrading requires a coordinated chain upgrade, but the code changes are minimal.

4/ New in v0.53:. → Expanded community pool capabilities: Manage and distribute block rewards for use cases like periodic token funding. → Custom Gov Tallying: Implement specialized governance voting mechanics tailored to your protocol.

3/ New features in v0.53:. → Unordered Transactions: submit txs unordered for more flexibility.→ Epochs: running logic at fixed intervals to program features such as daily settlements or inflation, decoupled from blocktime. → Custom minting: Replace default minting with custom.

In addition, developers told us they want to customize their apps with special logic, hooks, and other features, without needing to fork or undertake complex upgrades. Based on this feedback, we will center the development of the Cosmos SDK around pushing features, modularity,.

2/ We’ve talked to builders about their pain points with the SDK. API breaks, functionality changes, and new unexplained systems caused thrash and cost precious time. This motivated our decision to minimize breakages and make it as easy as possible to upgrade to v0.53.0.
