Last year, our crews responded to 703 hoax calls. So far in 2025, weโve already received 458 hoax calls - and the year isnโt over yet. Every hoax call ties up an ambulance that could be saving a life. Please, think before you dial.

A stroke is a life-threatening medical condition. The word FAST will help you recognise when a stroke is happening and what you need to do. Call 112 or 999 immediately. The sooner a person gets treatment, the less damage is likely to happen.

Injury units treat recent injuries (less than 6 weeks old) that are not life-threatening and unlikely to need admission to hospital. They can treat many of the injuries people go to the ED with. If they can't help, they'll direct you to where you can go to get the right help.

Providing our Emergency Medical Controllers with your exact location when calling 999 can make it much easier for our team to get to you in an emergency. Know what to do when you call an ambulance.
