My latest McDonald's buying trip results! Pickups include dozens of extremely rare translite signs, a Ronald Barrel of Fun, sealed Happy Meal toys, 60s era items, a Mayor McCheese Bag and even Ray Kroc's drapes! Still working hard to be the best McDonald's collector out there!!!

By the end of the 90s, McDonaldland character-themed Happy Meals had been almost entirely replaced with licensed properties. But, in the Asia-Pacific market, they were still getting incredible toys like GRIMACE THE RODEO RIDER!

Remember when Happy Meals came in buckets for building sandcastles? We should do that again.

Before the Happy Meal, the Ronald McDonald Barrel of Fun was the standard way for kids to get a toy at McDonald’s… just reach in and grab your prize! This one is still filled with Hamburglar rings from the 70s.

The Garfield Happy Meal toys were some of the best ever made. Most of us had the four with rotating wheels, but there were also two "under 3" toys - a rollerskating and alternate skateboarding version. (1989)

McDonald’s countertop displays used to be really gorgeous. Case in point: this Nickelodeon Happy Meal display from 1993.

Foundation models are stuck in the past, but they intentionally produce natural-sounding and varied responses. These can lead to hallucinations. We explore the limitations of foundation models and how RAG can address these so chat, search, and agentic workflows can all benefit.

In the Summer of 1994, McDonald's was converted into ROC DONALD'S to celebrate the Flintstones movie. The highlights of the promotion were these heavy, glass "Bedrock Mugs," which were available for just 99 CENTS! Worth every penny and then some.

Here’s the original McDonaldland poster from 1972, right before the characters got a major redesign. It even features a rare appearance from the four-armed EVIL GRIMACE.

The MAYOR MCCHEESE BAG was McDonald’s second attempt at a kids meal (right after the Captain Crook Sea Bag), running from April through June 1975. The meal included a cheeseburger, small fries and McDonaldland Cookies, all at regular menu prices… no toy.

CAMP SNOOPY GLASSES were the first time (of many) that the Peanuts and McDonald's teamed up. These were also one of the earliest examples of a McDonald's promo that was guaranteed to be at every garage sale/flea market/antique mall until the end of time. (1983)
