If fertility rates depended merely on providing sufficient $$$, what would be the reason for having a goal of replacement level rather than helping people realize their own fertility wishes (however high or low they may be) or for nudging societies toward rates +/- replacement?.

Around the world, it would take probably less than 5% of global GDP added on top of current child benefits as an annual child allowance to raise every single below-replacement-rate country to replacement rate.

This article says “some have questioned” the alleged UK churchgoing revival. To be clear, sources of doubt include:.- Data from churches showing about 20% less churchgoing at national level than before the pandemic (no revival).- Trend data from British Social Attitudes Survey.

“Strange as it may seem to find 20 to 40-somethings belting out ‘One More Step Along The World I Go’, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised by festival-goers re-embracing songs of faith from their youth. After all, a spiritual change seems to be afoot.”. My reflections on the Quiet

Media stories in the 2010s said China was on the cusp of having the largest Christian population in the world. However, based on extensive survey data, we estimate China isn't even on the list of the world's top 10 largest Christian populations.

Local religious leaders often have a different perception of current religion trends than is provided by national data. This could be because their religious community is thriving while the average community is not. It could be because of faith in what they hope to be true.
