5 weeks to go to the new season. Loads of player movement, plenty of impact from the 2 Irish on the floor rule. I’ll start putting together some who’s where etc in a few weeks once more are announced by the clubs publicly.

Getting a nice email from Swish to tell me the gold subscription is increasing 25%, is a nice reminder how close we are to the new season. What would people like to see more of coverage wise for the new year? Need to see what I can make time for.

Well done Karl and the squad. 7th nothing to be sniffed at, especially considering how much talent we were missing for various reasons. The Greek loss is one they’d want to get back, but overall a really good showing.

A huge issue in ireland for individual athletes and team sports. You need to be a medal contender to get significant funding and yet how do you ever build towards being competitive without funding.
The issue many in Irish sport have with the carding scheme is that athletes are asked to first deliver a world-class performance to get the kind of support usually needed to create a world-class performance. Saturday column:.

Lorcan Murphy has made three national senior podiums this year: 3rd in the 100m, 3rd in the indoor high jump, and 1st in the decathlon. Can’t think of another Irish basketball international who can match that.

Face guarding someone who has pace cant work. Especially when you have no idea where the ball is. Not the defenders fault, but he's set up to fail.

Donegal playing the equivalent of a box and one and it’s being torn apart. Almost impossible to play that defense against a team who can shoot from the outside for 2. They’ve still given Clifford 0-7 and the zone has gaps everywhere because they can’t sit there.
