Back on home turf! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Phase 2 of the huge bunker project at Monifieth Golf Links is now underway for the winter! We're excited to soon complete x17 bunkers, green surrounds and all of the shaping work on key holes like the 1st, 3rd, 8th, 9th and 12th.

Final stages of this project involved: Re-spread of layers, starting with the gravel carpet, then rootzone on the green, finished off with topsoil on the surrounds. After respreads, final levels are fine graded, then existing turf is relayed.

Precision was paramount: GPS and laser technology were utilised to ensure all contour lines and the putting surface's fall adhered exactly to the architect's model. After sign-off, a herringbone drainage layout was marked and installed. Completion videos coming soon! 🚜

Walton Heath GC 18th Green Revamp Stage 3 🎥 This phase focused on establishing the subgrade and installing the critical drainage infrastructure. Following the placement and levellng of cut material, we completed detailed shaping. [THREAD]

@waltonheath_gc This phase included, stripping topsoil and beginning the initial excavations to lift the putting surface. Now that the earthworks are complete, the fun part, shaping the new green, would be up next! 🚜

•⁠ ⁠⁠In total 2000m2 turf was salvaged. •⁠ ⁠⁠Turf was marked with numbers to help relay in same order as being lifted. •⁠ ⁠⁠Turf was laid out on plastic sheets for 10 days until construction works were complete.

Works included: •⁠ ⁠Lifting manually and salvaging existing greens turf to be stored and reused. •⁠ ⁠⁠Lifting all turf on surrounds to be reused.

Looking at hole 11 at Torre, the Caterpillar D6k starts to create the golf hole working from tee to green. The D6k is a popular machine of choice for shaping. With its manoeuvrability, pushing power and great visibility, the shaper’s paintbrush for productive and detailed work.
