If the A-10 had been selected, the PAF would have become the only foreign nation to operate it. The outcome of PAF evaluations favoured F-16 as the most suitable contender to fulfill their needs. And it was indeed, a good choice.

For the top US Government officials, F-16 was a very "sensitive tech" with which non-NATO partners couldn't be trusted. Therefore, comparatively inferior platforms like F-20, A-7 and A-10 (these two were entirely diff class, and not even supersonic!) were offered to PAF.

More from Fizaya II: . In the early 1980s, when the 🇺🇸 US was trying to lure 🇵🇰Pakistan to tackle the Soviet problem in Afghanistan, they offered A-7 Corsair, F-20 Tigershark and to my surprise, even the A-10 Warthog attack aircraft! However, PAF was adamant on "F-16 or nothing"
