I'm definitely nowhere near done, I've learned a lot doing this but I know I still have so much more to learn. Anyways, I hope yall liked my rant and learned a thing or two! Also @riotgames pls hire me pls I promise I work hard lol.

And now, where I'm currently at! I'm confident in the design of my character, now it's just a matter of application. Which always easier said than done lol Meet Nos, my edgy healer? Ish? He still needs lots of background work lol

Aaaaand just a few more (these are only some of them lol pls send help) I really was trying to familiarize myself with the shapes, silhouettes, and overall style of the amazing Su Ke's art! He was my biggest inspo during all this.

During this time my mentor also told me I needed to start drawing more like the Valorant style, which valid. So it became for me to do studies. So. Many. Studies.

Clothes! All good characters need a couple rounds of outfit iterations! I knew I wanted 2 things for sure: That big red jacket and the white hair. So I got to work again changing details of the outfit while keeping the overall vibe.

At this point I knew what I wanted from this character, it was just a matter of which one I liked most and which felt like a Valorant character. I decided to go with design A since it had the more general appealing design, but wait! We're not done!

Okay now we were really getting somewhere, after some feed back and discussion I decided to continue forward with a dark, vampy, edgy vibe since that looked and felt the most unique. Butttt it still needed to look like a Valorant character, so more drawing!

This really helped me, and I suggest to any other character designers to use word maps as well! Not only was I able to get more ideas but I was able to visualize more and really pick and choose what I concepts I wanted to do. So back to drawing!

So back to the writing board it was. I needed more direction, more focus. Coincidentally also around this time I began a mentorship under a concept artist (shout out to @jeffchen) ! They suggested I do a word map centered around healer so I did!

After thinking for a while I decided I wanted to do a healer! Since Valorant only has 2 healers this felt easier to work off and it gave me a base to start with. Next I started randomly doodling, but nothing I drew I liked or felt solid.

So to begin with it started with some notes on my notes app, mostly me just spit balling some ideas and thinking to myself: what do we have? what do we not have? what do I like? what haven't we gotten in a while? and really just working from there
