Don’t trust - verify. Here’s publicly available data on the recent cost basis to mine 1 BTC. While not current, energy prices haven’t changed drastically. Today’s costs are likely higher - but nowhere near the exaggerated figures being shared.
It currently costs $113K to mine a bitcoin only worth $104k think about that
