Sydney Sweeney so annoying cuz I was genuinely interested in seeing Christy and learning about her story, but that girl left a bad taste in my mouth now.

I think I'll enjoy Hamnet more as a movie than the book.

@jentayIor Ppl love to argue “it’s about her LIFE” as a showgirl and like…ok. She’s been a performer for over a decade now. You could argue every album is about her life as a showgirl. She’s been writing love songs her whole life. Showgirl isn’t different. The theme is misleading tbh

I think a lot of these issues could have been fixed by having Perfidia return after the first act of the movie. Spend a bit more time with her. The letter at the end was a good start, but not enough. I do appreciate that she's a flawed and complicated character.

My issue isn't that she's fetishized by the villain. It's that the film itself makes her too much of the vixen stereotype. She gets horny during the French 75 stuff. The motel scene with the gun portrays her as the one with the power even as she's technically being assaulted.
THR cover star Teyana Taylor opens up about the criticism that #OneBattleAfterAnother over-sexualizes her character: “Is that not what Black women go through? We are fetishized, especially by creepy motherf******,” she said. “This movie should spark debate, I always knew it

Make peace with the fact that you're not one of those people that enjoys exercise. That's what I did. You literally just have to decide to do it, and focus on feeling proud of yourself after.

That’s because they’re just Black doing pop rock. They’re not actually engaging with the extensive history of the Black sound called rock and roll. Seeing people’s wishlist for Beyoncé’s act 3 revealed a lot to me.

In some ways, I want to agree with this, but I can't fully reconcile it. Like, let's try it with another art form. The film Tall Girl was directed by a black woman. Does that make it a black film?
No, dumbass, you were playing Mozart. Stop asking me dumb questions lmfaoooo. Now if YOUR BLACK ASS composed a classical arrangement of your own, guess what?! You just made some Black Music✨ yay! 😄 Be blessed!!!

This is an interesting conversation to me because I see both sides of it. However, I will say that I feel like many black people distance themselves from the community and hide their internalized anti-blackness behind the whole "we are not a monolith" thing.
I can’t believe I have lived long enough to see a conversation that my mother was having in NINETEEN NINETY FUCKING FIVE come back around, wow. If a Black person makes it, it’s Black. There is no rubric to Blackness & we are not a monolith. What YOU are talking about is specific

This has low key been annoying me too for a bit, but I didn't wanna be a hater. It's especially crazy when people suggest Beyoncé is gonna have Act 3 sounding like Paramore...
Why is every “Black people in Rock” caption attached to alt rock/pop punk? It’s never any immediately recognizable Black Rock sounds. It’s always some shit you’d hear on an emotional scene in The Hills

He's literally the most uncool person alive. Money really can't buy everything.
Elon Musk on the "I bought this before Elon went crazy" bumper stickers that some people put on their Teslas: "There should be an addendum to the bumper sticker that's like, 'I bought this car before Elon turned crazy. Actually, now I realize he's not crazy, and I've seen the

This sunglasses around the waist challenge thing is extra funny cuz the glasses are stretched around everyone anyways. (And that's FINE and NATURAL and all these ladies are still gorgeous.) So what are we trying to show?
