stop glamorizing getting into tech !!! “you can learn coding by yourself in x months & earn 6 figures” this shit is HARD 😭 ppl don’t talk about how hard it is to stay consistent & motivated 💀 it’s definitely doable, but requires a lot of hard work 😤

chatgpt is getting really scary, but at the same time it’s AMAZING learning with chatgpt is a HUGE benefit, u don’t have to google shit anymore just ask chatgpt & look at code examples. ask shit when u don’t know what something does, & as a result increase ur learning pace

the tech industry is fucking BRUTAL 😭 i wrote an article about my 1st year in the tech industry so far (not pretty at all) i also talk about why ive been MIA, what ive been through, & the lessons ive learned so far check it out! https://t.co/xuf958pbdi

tldr; - getting laid off - got rejected at every interview - there is such thing as "not knowing enough to get a job" - what ive learned from this experience - what im currently doing

i realized once again that the only way to succeed at this self-taught coding thing is CONSISTENCY you get way more from being consistent & motivated than from learning a lot of material in bursts of energy

BTW im not saying don’t work😭 im saying leave space to grow and increase your knowledge/ skills im basically saying leave room to explore, maybe do an internship or apprenticeship & find out what u really like, instead of diving deep enough that u wont be able to get out 🥲

i went through lot of interviews, & while my social media presence did help get me that interview, my technical skills were SHIT so it was & still is hard PLS make sure you know the general amount of shit required in the industry before you get that shiny new job.

of course, you’ll have to take that step some day…but leave time to learn/improve until you reach your ultimate goal take it from me. i took the first job opportunity & was unable to grow my skills due to work, so when i suddenly got laid off, the job search was HELL 😭

unpopular opinion/advice: DO NOT take the first FULL-TIME job opportunity that comes your way while you’re learning to code (or if you’re not ready) chances are that you’ll be overwhelmed with work & stop your learning journey for a while (NOT GOOD) to focus on ur job
