Serverless does lead to reinventing (or at least reimplementing) the platform. .
I'll be excited about serverless when it starts managing my connection pools, service lookup, and runtime management & introspection. Oh wait, that is literally what a JavaEE container does.

Always be learning. .
As a consultant, you have good gigs and bad gigs. Good gigs are those that are working on newer concepts. Bad gigs are answering why cloud in 2018. Currently working on chaos engineering, microservice resiliency, SRE. That's a GREAT gig.
