i do get that reading is just not easy for some people to do consistently and i can respect trying to make it a habit! but the whole idea behind these posts feels like a flimsy link between reading and intellectualism that equates more book read with bigger brain

it always irks me a little when i see the reduction of books to quantities to be read. like every time i see a post that says “i read this number of books this year” or explains how you need to read a certain amount of books each year, month, or week it just irks me

like a lot of it is smut! i don't expect exemplary writing out of smut! but i think that some people get really deep into it as a work of war fiction and from that angle i just don't think it's that great!
