I was taught this in college and once it stuck with me it made the game much simpler

In order to be able to handle a seasons workload of 50-80 pitches (hs) & 70-100 pitches (college, pro) per outing you have to train accordingly in the offseason. You can’t throw 2-3 times a week & make 30-50 throws per session and expect to stay healthy or maximize performance

Pitch count isn’t the issue, it’s the preparation and prevention. How much have you thrown in the last week? Month? Have you been lifting weights? Eating healthy? Getting enough sleep? Ppl put too much emphasis on pitch counts and not enough on trying to keep their body healthy

This is why I preach to my guys that not everyone progresses at the same rate. Just because your 15 year old buddy is throwing 88-90 doesn’t mean you should be too. Everyone is different, there’s nothing wrong with that. Work with what you have and try to improve every day
Late bloomer pitchers find their potential at 26 years old.
A youth coach has no way of knowing who on their 12U team will be the best at 26 years old.

Kids NEED to understand that an arm care program isn’t just a quick fix for velo. It’s a LIFESTYLE that u need to stick to day in/day out. It tests your will and want. Anyone claiming they can get u where you need to be in 8-12 weeks is lying to you. Up to u if u really want it!

Here’s a good example of how to keep a hitter off balance while being aggressive in the zone.
Starts off the AB with a 0-0 breaking ball for a strike, misses low with the FB, back to the breaker on 1-1 and finishes it off with a hard FB on the outside corner.
