The original Men in Black film (1997) had PEAK alien design. The creatures all looked like they evolved from something, and the use of practical effects made them feel "real". Too bad the quality of designs decreased in later films.

Iβve been told by family members my velvet worms look like the guys in the third picture even though I keep remembering them looking more like cockroaches. A closer look, the resemblance is undeniable!

My favorite element of the MIB first movie, and partially the third? Is how expressive they truly make monstrous beings, adorably human not in body but in eyes and behavior. Nothing beats some tentacled and snarling creature from acting like a suburban working class person.

I especially love the little doodads in the 3rd pic, like u do NOT feel like an earthly organism but you are definitely real!! Like a super naturalistic looking derived mammal-like synapsid with bug software
@cmkosemen
Did you see the Adam Savage video with the full sized animatronic of the big bug from the final act, that they *never used*? They decided it didnt look quite right so they leaned harder on CG for that part.

I miss when creature designs just needed to have mottled color patterns. Like how a lot of the ones here have brown/white colors or two-tone coloration in general. Really cephalopod colors.

Only thing I don't get behind is that they're pretty much humanoid or have features of humanoids still. I get why, budget and not to alienate the audience. Still cool though but I don't recall the one in the first picture.

Bugs were so cool. Not just the design but how they also had many traits like inferiority complex and sharing kinship to insects on Earth which affected their decision making
