So, I had come to the conclusion after watching 25 episodes of Evangelion. This is the most over glazed anime I've ever watched. This show, was not only boring, the story is schizo as fuck, and I have no connections to either of these characters. I see this anime in so many top

I haven't seen SL, but I read some of MHA and all I really remember is the time Deku screamed while self-harming or whatever. It was cool.

Absolutely brutal cut by Hosoma Naru. Really visceral gore & fantastic attention to detail. Characters are fleshy and tangible. There are tons of little details too—realistic blood spurts, twitching muscles and tendons, and masterful use of timing and spacing to maximize impact.

There are even more details in the genga I didn't catch on my screen, like the eyeball falling out of a man's eyesocket onto an alien's tongue. The shapes in the first image here—the thickness of that tongue and the proportions of the face...it just feels so disturbingly real.

He also directed a gritty and engrossing adaptation of Dazai's No Longer Human in the first 4 episodes of Aoi Bungaku Series, and of all the adaptations I've experienced, this one is my favorite as well.

His shoujo and josei adaptations are all fantastic - he displays a great deal of care and respect for these works and always knows how to highlight what makes them special. Even though his newer works have a different style than the older ones, his dedication is still there.

Asaka Morio has directed some of the best anime adaptations I have ever seen. Everything he's worked on has done great service to the source material and elevated many of them as well. This show ought to be on everyone's plan-to-watch list for 2026.
