And let’s not forget that Claire’s personality isn’t limited to taking care of children. In this game, we see a mature woman burdened with trauma who, surprise, makes mistakes like any human being and finds her redemption, as shown through Barry and Moira.
I’ve seen a lot of people saying that Claire is out of character here, but my interpretation is completely different. Rev2 is also a game where we see human characters making mistakes.

Claire isn’t out of character, she’s portrayed as a human character who makes mistakes just like the others in the game, even Alex Wesker herself being a flawed character.
